Lounge area at Derwentwater House, Lake District

Living Spaces

The main entrance takes you into a porch, complete with seat and boot rack, and then into the main hallway of the house which has crystal chandeliers and fantastic art. On the left hand side is the ‘quiet’ sitting room; a warm, sunny room with a large bay window overlooking the garden and a front window overlooking the marina and Derwentwater.

To the right of the entrance hallway, through the door,  and up a couple of steps you’ll enter the Tartan room. This is the main hub of the house with bookshelves, a log burning stove, comfy sofas, eye-catching art and a table in front of the window for family games on a wet day. This room also leads to the side porch and the dining room.

A door from the kitchen takes you into the back hall, turn left and down a couple of steps is the TV room; a cosy room with comfy seating and a large 55 inch TV with wi-fi sound bar and DVD.

If you turn right out of the kitchen door you will come to a rear entrance and stairs down to the basement. Here you will find the utility room with a washer, dryer, iron etc. Around the corner from this are two rooms for the young and very young. The first is a colourful sitting room with large leather sofa, bright Warhol prints, toys, games, Lego, Duplo, TV, and a collection of children’s DVDs. In the next room there is a pool table with a loo/shower room leading off. A nice, safe area for the children to play and have some fun!

The house has wi-fi, a library of books, guidebooks and maps, and a Bose sound system with wi-fi phone and MP3 player compatibility.
